Breast asymmetry is a difference in breast size or shape, or both of the mentioned. Most commonly the left breast is different from the right in size and shape. In some cases this is unnoticeable and needs no surgical correction. Sometimes, surgical intervention is needed to equalize the breasts. Surgical breast asymmetry correction is successful in most cases, and women are satisfied with the results.
There are several other breast size and shape anomalies that may benefit from cosmetic surgery. Tuberous breasts get their name from being shaped like a tube. The base of the breast is not broad-based but rather constricted so that the breast appears more like a tube than a cone. The operations applied to different patients are different from each other. It is the most suitable way to discuss with the patient decide on the operation type. The possible need for breast augmentation, breast reduction or mastopexy should be discussed with the patient. Results of cosmetic breast surgery are usually better when there is only difference in size of the breasts.
